CDC Issues Health Warning: Delta-8 THC

Cannabis-based products with Delta-8 THC are gaining popularity in many markets as consumers believe that Delta-8 is a safer alternative when compared to its more potent cousin, Delta-9 THC. It’s important to remember that “safer” does not mean devoid of risks. A recent “Health Advisory” from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) calls into question how safe Delta-8 really is. The warning stemming from the lack of research into Delta-8’s properties, the use of harsh chemicals and solvents used in converting CBD into Delta-8 as well as the increase in recent adverse health impacts associated to Delta-8 usage, many requiring hospitalization.

The CDC provides straight forward recommendations for consumers, healthcare providers and for cannabis retailers and producers; all aimed at increasing the awareness of the potential health risks associated to Delta-8 products.
